Church History

The First Baptist Church of Thousand Oaks was organized on December 1, 1950, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Burt. Seven members were present.

The Pastors of the Church have been:

Rev. Walter Mickley 10/52 to 8/53
Rev. Frank Riggs 10/53 to 10/56
Rev. Clifton Hodson 11/56 to 1/59
Rev. H. Dee Estes 3/59 to 11/65
Rev. O.B. Robertson 1/66 to 5/72
Rev. Ron E. Wilson 10/72 to 7/09
Rev. Jack Clegg - 8/09 to present

The Church met in several homes and in buildings on Thousand Oaks Boulevard until 1962. In April of 1962, the Church moved into its present location on Erbes Road. The property consists of five acres.

In 1976 the Church added the back parking lot and the first floor of the education building. In 1978 the Church added the second floor of the education building.

In 1978 the Church started the First Baptist Preschool and Day Care and that ministry continues to this day with an enrollment of sixty-five on December 1, 2000. The Church started the First Baptist Academy in 1979 and currently has over 50 students in Preschool through High School.
